Organized by the Singapore Management University and The Business Times, the one day seminar on digital transformation will make use of an app called Gnowbe.
"The Gnowbe platform is one of the most versatile mobile learning platform we have come across as it allows us to do a range of learning activities rather than just going through text, videos or quizzes," said Lim Lai Cheng, executive director of SMU Academy.

Founded in 2015 by entrepreneur So-Young Kang, Gnowbe announces $1.7million in seed funding from Coent Ventures, 500 Startups, POEMS Ventures, Koh Boon Hwee and Holly Liu.
Gnowbe stands for “grow knowledge into being” and is based on the belief that only through application can learning truly happen. “One can read 20 books on leadership and still be a terrible leader”, say Kang. “A good leader practices the principles and applies [them].” Gnowbe calls this process “Learn-Think-Apply-Share,” based on jack Mezirow’s theory of transformative learning.

Gnowbe has joined KPMG Digital Village, an initiative launched in April 2016 to facilitate collaboration between corporates and the startup community.
According to Jan Reinmueller, Head of Digital Village, KPMG in Singapore, Gnowbe’s mobile first approach, continuous feedback and social features, give it a distinct advantage over traditional learning and knowledge management tools.
“Their solution serves as a great platform and has the potential to significantly change the way people learn, especially in the financial sector where content is dense and complex,” he stated.

Workplace training app Gnowbe announced today it has raised US$1.7 million for its seed round. The funding comes from Coent Ventures, the venture capital subsidiary of Southeast Asia company builder REAPRA. 500 Startups and Australia-headquartered POEMS Ventures also joined in. Angels like prominent Singaporean investor Koh Boon Hwee and mobile gaming company Kabam co-founder Holly Liu participated too.

For ten minutes a day, Gnowbe promises to engage professionals in mobile learning with its interactive content app. Users choose their own 1-2 month “journeys” tailored to their interests and are prompted to put daily readings into action. They can track their progress through personal and team profiles, analytics and dashboards. Once a journey is completed, each user receives a certificate to share on social media.
