Ngee Ann Polytechnic (NP) is an institution of higher learning in Singapore with more than 14,800 full-time and 3,000 part-time students, more than 1,800 staff and 148,000 alumni.
After using Gnowbe’s mobile learning platform to train leaders and onboard new employees, NP saw a potential gap in the future-readiness of their graduating students. They wanted to give their students access to continuous learning even after they weren’t physically attending classes at NP. As educators, they wanted to ensure the students are continuously up-skilled with essential learning content, which prepares them for a successful career and future.
Gnowbe’s mobile, micro-learning platform provided the perfect medium to transfer the essential knowledge to the graduating students. NP also used Gnowbe’s content authoring to empower their lecturers to create micro-content and rethink the teaching modules and the school curriculum for the first time.
“If not for Gnowbe it would have been quite impossible for us to deliver Beginnings. Fortunately, Gnowbe gave us the platform to do what we needed to do in that quick time. We were exploring other platforms for the longest of time, but Gnowbe came in at the right time to give us the confidence to say look we can do this and we can do this quickly because it was an easy platform that we could learn very quickly.” – Mei Fong Looi, Deputy Principal
What started off as three lecturers working on ‘Beginnings,’ resulted in over 50 lecturers trained, and equipped to create Micro-learning content at the end of 4 weeks. They delivered four micro-courses on topics like ‘Hacking Fake News,’ ‘Innovating to Thrive,’ ‘Powering with Analytics’ and ‘Winning in Life’ to encourage lifelong learning amongst 5000 students.
NP successfully built creative confidence in lecturers to create quality content using Gnowbe’s easy self-authoring tool. Lecturers at NP are now starting to independently pioneer projects with Gnowbe in their areas of expertise.
